Organist/Choirmaster, Cathedral Church of the Redeemer

As of January 1st, 2010, a vacancy exists on the music team of the Cathedral Church of the Redeemer which the Rector and Wardens are seeking to fill as soon as possible.  The Cathedral Church of the Redeemer is the oldest Anglican Parish in the City of Calgary.  Founded in 1894, the present building was consecrated in 1905.  As the Cathedral Church of the Anglican Diocese of Calgary it hosts many services of civic and diocesan importance.

The organ is a 3-manual Casavant which was fully restored in 2002.  The choir comprises eight paid section leads and volunteers.  The exact duties of the position may be tailored according to the experience and interests of the appointed candidate.  A regular weekly commitment is possible, but our staffing situation can allow a part-time appointment - in both cases the rank is negotiable.  This position would suit an Assistant/Associate Organist or a student organ scholar.

For suitably qualified candidates, the role of assistant choirmaster may be combined with this appointment.  The essential skill the successful candidate will possess is an ability to acccompany both the congregation and choir on the organ.  Other desirable skills would include:

- experience of Anglican worship and church music.

- experience in choral conducting

Suitable candidates will be contacted for an interview and audition.  The stipend is negotiable, depending on qualifications and time commitment and will be in accordance with RCCO standards.  The starting date will be mutually agreeable to both the successful candidate and the Cathedral.  Please submit a letter of application, along with Curriculum Vitae to:
