The Anglican Parish of Christ Church, Calgary seeks an Assistant Organist to work with, and be accountable to the Director of Music and Clergy. Christ Church is a thriving Anglican community with a proud choral and musical tradition, which strives to provide services of high musical, theological and liturgical quality. In addition to its regular Sunday commitments the choir sings in other venues and has completed three singing tours to British cathedrals since 1999 with another tour planned for the summer of 2011. The successful candidate will: have proficiency playing a three manual mechanical action organ; possess good organ skills, either as an advanced organ student; or someone seeking a more challenging situation; be willing to learn a large repertoire of music in the Anglican tradition. The candidate will, as a minimum: rehearse with the choir for two hours on Thursday and forty-five to sixty minutes before each Service; rehearse, as necessary, with the Director of Music; accompany the children’s choir for three services per month, and the adult choir for three morning services and one Evensong per month; be available for extra rehearsals, services, weddings, funerals, and concerts if required. Salary to be negotiated in accordance with qualification and RCCO scale. Position available effective Sept. 1, 2010.
